The 2021 summer season is shaping up to be nice and hot, but what to do when the heat is too much? Here are our best tips for getting through heat waves more easily this summer.
1. Choose breathable clothing.
Choose light, loose-fitting clothing that lets your skin breathe and allows your body heat to escape. Natural fibers like cotton and linen will help you stay cool and dry.
2. Stay hydrated.
To stay well hydrated during a heat wave, prioritize water as your beverage of choice. In general, it is recommended that you drink between 1 and 1.5 liters of water per day. During a heat wave, add half a liter of water for each additional degree of temperature to compensate for the water lost through perspiration. Some fruits and vegetables, such as cucumbers and watermelon, contain a lot of water and are a good way to increase fluid intake.

3. Lower your body temperature as often as possible.
Whether you take a dip in the pool, take a cool shower or a lukewarm bath, any way you can reduce your body temperature by a few degrees and avoid heat stroke.
4. Cool off at Place St-Eustache.
Avoid exposure to the sun when the mercury is too high. As much as possible, stay in the shade or indoors. You don't have an air conditioner? Take advantage of this opportunity to come and take a walk in the fresh air at Place St-Eustache.
